College Arts Fest Launched In Mansfield
On the evening of 12th June, West Nottinghamshire College’s Arts Fest was officially opened at the Museum in Mansfield by College Principal, Asha Khemka. Up until 21st June, two rooms at the museum will be showcasing the very best of the talented creative arts students’ final year projects.
This year sees the entry level Fashion and Textile students’ work displayed along with the talents of the entry level Multimedia students who are all based at the Ashfield College campus. Students also modelled their fashions at the fashion show that took place on the Thursday evening.
Asha said, “Every year we see more and more exciting designs from our students within these creative study areas. Their imagination, their creative talents and their ability to look towards new concepts has captivated our audience tonight. I am proud of their excellent skills and I know the people of Mansfield will be proud to see their creations at the museum for the next few weeks. These are our artists and designers of the future.”
Work is on display at the museum which samples areas such as Multimedia and Media, Visual Art and Design.
Curriculum Team Leader for Creative Arts, Steve Gathercole said, “This was a colourful and eventful opening of the showing of our students’ work. The 18+ Foundation Textiles group’s work injected a real sense of theatre to the evening with their textile creation. Many people commented just how highly professionally produced the fashions were and some were reminiscent of the famous Biba style wear. Our guests were delighted to see that our models, both males and females, represented the true body images within society as well.”
