Create Theatre goes classical
An evening of classical music is coming to West Nottinghamshire College’s Create Theatre next week.
An evening of classical music featuring a piece by West Notts students is coming to Create Theatre
First Art and Orchestras Live are teaming up on Thursday 28 April to invite world-class chamber orchestra Manchester Camerata to work with local young people in creating a one-off tour.
A fun, friendly evening of well-loved classical music with a local twist will feature a unique composition inspired by workshops with local young people, who will join the orchestra for the performance.
Each piece, created entirely by the young people with the support of professional composers Laura Bowler and Richard Taylor, will be incorporated into one of four special concerts performed by the orchestra and accompanied by the young people at local schools and colleges. Thursday’s performance takes place at Create Theatre in Mansfield.
Nine of the college’s own performing arts students will feature in the workshop event at the showing this Thursday. There will then be an opportunity for audience members to meet the orchestra and their conductor Mark Heron.
Tickets cost £3 each and can be purchased on a first come, first served basis on the night or by pre-booking. To book call 01909 720378 or visit firstart.org.uk
The programme includes Tchaikovsky, Sleeping Beauty Waltz, Verdi, La Donna e Mobile, Bernstein, Mambo from West Side Story, Mozart, Horn Quintet and Marriage of Figaro, Bizet - Habanera (arr. Simon P), Laura Bowler – Pleasurable, Brahms - Hungarian Dances 5,6 & 7, Piazzolla – Libertango.
