Students to stage wedding fair
Travel and tourism students at West Nottinghamshire College have organised a wedding fair which will take place at the college this weekend (10 April).
The fair, which is being staged in the college’s Derby Road Atrium, is open to the public and visitors can attend from 11am to 3pm. The first 50 guests to arrive will receive a free goodie bag.
It has been organised entirely by the students who are studying the Foundation Degree Tourism and Event Management course at the college, and they have invited over twenty local companies to attend including wedding dress suppliers, wedding venue managers, cake makers and make-up artists as well as jewellers and travel agents.
One of the students who has organised the fair, Sydni Hubbard, 20, from Warsop, said: “It’s been a big challenge for the five of us in this group, but we’ve enjoyed communicating with the various companies to get them to attend.
“Our communication skills have been tested, as well as financial organisational skills – all this is new to us. We’ve worked hard to ensure that Sunday will be a success and we’re donating the money that the companies are paying to visit, to Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Support.”
Tutor Rebecca Williams said: “The girls have worked extremely hard on arranging the wedding fair and it was a big challenge. They’ve performed brilliantly so far and I’m proud of how hard they have worked and wish them every success with the event.”
