The level one students, who study at the college’s Ashfield Centre, came to the Derby Road campus to set up stall to trade their Easter fayre.
Homemade cakes, biscuits and decorative sweetie baskets were just some of the goodies on sale yesterday (16 March) to raise funds for Mansfield-based Hall Homeless Support Project, which runs from St Peter’s Centre on Church Street.
Over the last few weeks the group have been working hard contacting local businesses to seek donations for the prize raffle which includes prizes such as toiletries, gym passes, Easter eggs, vouchers for local pubs and horse riding vouchers.
A special yellow guest in the shape of a Minion kindly came along from a Mansfield-based party company called Butterfly Effex. He was on hand to take selfies of students for a 50p fee to the charity.
Tutor Kathryn Baker said: “Today was a fantastic success and by lunchtime we had exceeded our target of raising £100 at the Derby Road campus as well as raising over £100 at the students’ Ashfield campus! We’re so pleased to have had such great support from all the companies who kindly donated prizes.
“The group worked so well to put today’s stall together, sell the produce and the raffle tickets and we’re delighted to be handing the homeless charity an amazing £356.81.”
