Aspiring performing artists from West Nottinghamshire College saw two West End productions in one day as part of their annual study trip to London.

A group of 36 students on the Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts and the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (acting and musical theatre) enjoyed The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at the Gielgud Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue and Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre on The Strand.
The visit, on Thursday 25 February, was aimed at inspiring students who are training for careers in acting or music by showcasing the professionalism of top stage productions and different performance techniques.
Simon Watt, programme area leader for performing arts, said: “Our annual trip to London really raises the aspirations of our students. To experience two very different shows in one day allows them to see the standard they are ultimately aiming for.
“Both pieces are fairly new and it’s important for students to experience what is current within the industry.
“Students were incredibly positive about both shows and have already started to follow their official social media accounts as well as the online profiles of some cast members, which means they have a direct link with industry professionals and their work.”
Kinky Boots recently won the Best New Musical category at the latest What’s On Stage Awards and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a recent National Theatre production that has transferred to the West End and also has a national tour.
