Karley’s off to the UK Skills finals
Holistic Therapies Diploma student, Karley Otter, will be showing off her winning abilities in reflexology at the UK Skills national beauty therapy finals this weekend at Barnfield College, Luton.
This week, Karley learnt that her skills displayed at Cheshire’s Trafford College regional heats on 8th May proved to be worthy of entering the national finals.
On Saturday 6th June she will compete with the top ten holistic therapists from across the UK, where she will be tested on her consultation skills, reflexology techniques as well as after-care advice.
Karley (23), from Alfreton, said: “The competition in Cheshire was a great experience and I am really looking forward to focussing my efforts at this weekend’s national finals. My sister-in-law will be my model and she’s very supportive and a very calming influence.”
Tutor Gail Williamson said: “We’re just so proud of Karley. She has some great qualities as a therapist and we’re thrilled that she’s representing our region at the UK finals. Everyone is very excited and we hope she has some winning news for us after the weekend.”
Winners from both this and next year’s competitions will compete to go forward to represent the UK in Beauty Therapy in the World Skills competition in Canada in 2011.
