Star-crossed lovers tell their tale
Performing arts students at West Nottinghamshire College will be putting their emotions on the stage in their end-of-year performance in a very physical interpretation of Romeo and Juliet this month.
Star crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet bring fire and passion to the stage at Create Theatre
A double-bill of Year 2 Extended Diploma Actors’ reworked version of Shakespeare’s classic comes to the college’s Create Theatre stage on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 June at 7pm.
The well-known story of the couple’s love, their feuding families and their secret marriage comes to life on the college’s stage with the first showing on Wednesday 17 June. This is the VIP opening night of the creative industries and digital technologies students’ end-of-year exhibitions.
Tutor and director of the play, Andy Dobb, said: “Our adaptation of Romeo and Juliet has been cut to just over an hour from nearly two hours, but has been no less of a challenge.
“Students have thrown themselves into the characters, relationships and themes of the play to help them bring the story to life for themselves and our audience.
“The final show of the course is always a conflicting affair. It is a celebration of achievement, a goodbye to friends and familiarity, an excitement for what’s to come and so much more.”
Tickets for the performance cost £3 and can be purchased by calling 01623 413363 or by visiting www.createtheatre.co.uk
