Reaching new heights at theatre
A gripping play showing the lives of young people living in a tower block is coming to West Nottinghamshire College’s Create Theatre courtesy of performing arts students at the college.
Lisa McGee’s The Heights was originally written for and published by The National Theatre Connections project in 2009 and will be performed by the budding actors on 15 June at 7pm at the Derby Road-based theatre.
Through the eyes of a girl who lives in the tower block, Lillie Lee, the audience will see how creative an imagination can be when a person is subject to boredom and isolation. Lillie tells stories. Sometimes they’re funny, sometimes they’re sad. Sometimes they wonderful, other times they’re terrible.
Profiling young people at The Heights who believe there’s never anything to do, the show gives a real insight into their turbulent lives.
