Travel and tourism students on the road to great careers
The wide spectrum of careers in the travel and tourism industry was promoted by students at West Nottinghamshire College last week.

The annual careers fair on Thursday (30 April), organised entirely by the BTEC National Diploma in Travel and Tourism group, kicked off with hearing from guest speaker Paula Kelsey from events management company Cloud 9.
Other guest speakers included representatives from Butlins Entertainment, Crich Tramway Museum, Co-operative Travel, STA Travel and Wander City.
The careers fair was open to all other travel and tourism learners at the college to help them choose their study and career pathway in the sector. Ice breaker games and a lunch were included in the day.
During the guest speaker session, ex-students Deanna Feebery and Naomi Swinn ‘Facetimed’ the group from Spain so students could ask questions about their careers as holiday reps for Thomson Holidays.
Current student Jessica Spedding, 20, was one of the students who organised the careers fair. She said: “There were lots of current students attending the event which was encouraging. Each member of our group had to contact companies to organise them to come in and we’ve all worked really hard together to make it a successful event.
“Everyone took an interest in the careers boards which gave further details about the kind of careers you can go onto. We’re grateful to our guest speakers for giving their real impressions of the jobs they’re in.”
