Killer plant takes root at Create Theatre
A well-known carnivorous plant with rocking tunes and dark humour is spreading its leaves at Create Theatre this month.
The Little Shop of Horrors, originally produced at the Orpheum Theatre in New York City, is being directed in Mansfield by Katie Funk and performed by actors at Funky Studios Company on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 19, 20 and 21 March – with a matinee showing on Saturday at 2pm.
The performance follows Seymour, a down-and-out floral assistant who longs to get the girl of his dreams and escape life on skid row. He becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood.
Soon ‘Audrey II’ grows into an ill-tempered, rock singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite and finally revealing its goal of global domination.
Tickets for the evening shows at 7.30pm and the Saturday matinee at 2pm cost £12 per person or £7 for concessions and can be purchased by contacting Funky Studios on 01623 232391 or emailing info@funky-studios.co.uk
This musical is recommended for audience members aged 12 years and over.
