This is a MS SQL Server DBA/Developer role largely responsible for providing operational database services within a successful educational software development team. We are looking to fill a need to have a highly competent and highly motivated individual in this role. Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests and resolving incidents within SLAs, reviewing service related incidents and working alongside the software development team to come up with solutions.
The role requires a service-orientated mentality with a focus on maintaining large mission critical databases, ensuring high availability, robust disaster recovery and optimal performance. This will be achieved through a combination of independent ownership in terms of Database Administration tasks and collaborative development within the Software Development Team, which could include devising data models, structures and procedures. The role requires the holder to become the “database expert” within the team and use such skills to inform planning and decision making and within the production process.
The role is likely to require the post holder to present technical information within the Software Development and Senior Management teams and to demonstrate software or provide support to other members of staff and/or customers. Good communication, presentation skills - along with sound business acumen - are required.
