Fine food and fundraising
Catering and hospitality students at West Nottinghamshire College will be giving their charity of the year a final boost next week.
In aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, learners on NVQ Level 1 courses in catering and hospitality will be hosting a fundraising dinner for the public on Wednesday (11 June), following the original idea suggested by student, Mitchell Pashley several months ago. This will feature a three-course dinner at the college’s Relish restaurant at the Derby Road campus.
Raffle tickets are being sold as well as Bluebell Wood merchandise to boost funds for the charity which the college has supported for the last three years. Students will be taking donations prior to and on the evening to support the Sheffield-based charity.
Fundraisers Charlotte Addison and Lynne Booth, who both work in the hospitality and catering department have supported the event. Lynne said: “Every year we work that little bit harder and creatively to raise as much cash for this hospice as we can. We will certainly exceed the £2,000 mark this year and we will be aiming for £3,000 next academic year.
“Our students have worked hard to sell tickets to the dinner and we’re grateful for any further donations to help provide sick children and their families with the support they deserve when going through a terminal illness.”
