Students' ideas are on the money
Students with the best money-saving ideas were presented with prizes for their efforts at West Nottinghamshire College last week.
Prize winning students shared their cash-saving tips
Connor Gill, 20, Karan Taylor, 18 and Jessica Brassington, 16 were three of five prize-winners who took part in the college’s recent Barclays Money Skills Week campaign.
In March, the college ran activities, tutorials and competitions designed to raise students’ awareness about managing finances and saving cash.
More than 900 students took part in a competition to share their top cash-saving tips which ran during Money Skills Week.
Engineering student Connor gave environmentally friendly ideas and won £100 of Amazon vouchers, A Level student Jessica highlighted a range of web-based money saving tips which secured her the big bear prize, while fellow A Level student Karan Taylor shared “all the advice she’s ever been given by friends and family how to save money”, and scooped £150 of Love to Shop vouchers.
Head of student support Paul Rana said: “Our panel of judges had a big task to shortlist so many innovative money-saving ideas from the students.
“They covered themes such as the environment, their communities and web-based tips demonstrating a lot of thought and attention. This clearly shows that many students learnt from the Barclays Money Skills Week activities and tutorials.”
