Art pops up in town
Art and design students at West Nottinghamshire College will be staging a ‘pop-up’ exhibition of their work at Mansfield Library for just one week.
Set in the library’s first floor exhibition space, the Extended Diploma Art and Design students together with the Foundation Art and Design students, will be showcasing the range of processes and techniques used to produce their coursework.
Artwork selected by the students from their own portfolios will be exhibited at the library, off Westgate, from Monday 31 March to Sunday 6 April.
On display will be photography, painting, print work, textiles and drawing and design all produced during their time at the college’s Chesterfield Road campus.
Student Frank Jory, 68, from Ollerton, said: “As a mature student I have possibly gained the most from the tutors and students alike, considering I had very little artistic elements in my previous career.
“At the end of the course I hope to continue as a practising artist in print and textile. I’d also like to set up an agency to assist local young student artists to exhibit their work, and will be looking at the local business community to assist in further ‘pop up’ facilities for such events.”
Mansfield Library will be open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.00pm and Saturday 9.00am to 4.00pm and Sunday 11.00am to 3.00pm.
