Mims’ the word for computing students
Two computing students at West Nottinghamshire College are celebrating a £500 cash prize for their web design skills.

Hannah Concannon, 19, and Jessica Parsons, 22, who are studying on the HND in Computing and Systems Development have designed and developed a website for a Lancashire-based marketing firm.
MIMS Marketing is an agency that provides marketing support to businesses without an internal marketing team and targets businesses which have a turnover of between £250,000 and £5 million.
The company, which is fronted by Professor Mims, approached the college to see if students could rebrand their website and showcase their web design and development skills with the offer of a £500 prize.
The design brief stipulated that the website should be easy to understand and navigate, be a fresh and clean design that is visually appealing. Professor Mims also asked that the website works well on mobile phones and other devices and have an interactive blog where articles can be added.
Hannah and Jessica worked together on the design project and are looking forward to seeing the new website go live in the New Year.
Jessica, from Mansfield, said: “This was our first experience of a live project and we worked really well together using our skills learnt on the course.
“It’s exciting to know that our work will be live on the website soon and we’re delighted with our prize as well.”
Computing tutor Vandana Sharma said: “I’m really proud of their achievements and it’s fantastic to see that their hard work has paid off.
“Hannah and Jess saw an opportunity and made the most of it for it to become a success. This will look great on their CVs and put them in good stead for their futures.”
