Lipstick, powder and paint at Create
There will be glitter and glamour coming to the stage at Mansfield’s Create Theatre when the drag queens arrive in December.
Drag Queens on Trial by Kitchen Table Trio features characters Judy, Lana and Marlene who are on trial and defending themselves against society.
This triple showing of a comedic and touching story with a moral at its heart, aims to tackle the notion of being true to yourself and the girls are played by Andy Dobb, Drew Baxter and Jack Burrows, supported by Rob Phillips.
One of the characters – Lana Lust – is played by West Nottinghamshire College’s performing arts tutor, Andy Dobb, who is one third of the Kitchen Table Trio.
Andy said: “We chose this play because it has a great mix of comedy and pathos, a great challenge for us after the success of ‘The Odd Couple’ in May.
“Drew knew someone who died of AIDS – a theme for my character – and we thought this play would be a great way for us to raise awareness and provide a great night out at the theatre at the same time.”
The show, which is recommended for people aged 16 and over due to strong language and themes is on Thursday 5, Friday 6 and Saturday 7 December at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £6 each or £4 for concessions and can be purchased through the online box office at www.createtheatre.co.uk or by calling 01623 413363.
