A saintly story
Audiences can follow Saint George from boyhood to man, to courageous warrior at an award-nominated stage production at Create Theatre this month.
A Real Man’s Guide to Sainthood is a comic book style show touring the UK this autumn and features wild storytelling and insatiable performance as it retells England’s Patron Saint George’s legendary tale.
The show features pedal-powered brute force, elegant lyricism and a punchy original score with bicycle powered lights – all operated by the cast.
Milk Presents Theatre Company brings the Edinburgh 2012 hit show to the Mansfield-based theatre on Thursday 17 October at 7.30pm when manliness is dissected, heroism is slain and a legend is laid bare on a cadaver tray.
The show, which is supported by Arts Council England Lottery Funding, will provide comic book-style access guides to help people who have hearing impairments or learning disabilities to follow the story easily.
Create Theatre co-ordinator Adam Pownall said: “I saw this fabulous show at Edinburgh last year and really enjoyed it. I compared the humour and style to the well-known 118 team – if they did amazing story-telling theatre, this would be it!”
