College in Indian trade mission

West Nottinghamshire College is embarking on an overseas trade mission to develop links with business and commerce in India.

College staff will join a delegation heading to The Punjab on Saturday (28 February) as part of a visit organised by the East Midlands India Business Bureau to promote the region as a business and investment partner.

They will use the visit to market its range of award-winning bksb educational products to businesses in the region.

Originally developed 15 years ago to meet an internal skills need, the bksb range of learning resources and interactive literacy and numeracy assessment tools are now used by millions of learners around the world.

They are sold to over 1,500 business customers in the UK, including to almost three-quarters of further education colleges, as well as to many foreign countries.

Harvinder Atwal, bksb Director, said:  “We’re looking forward to taking bksb to yet another overseas market.  As a developing global economy, India provides us with exciting business opportunities.  This trip will create economic benefits for bksb, West Nottinghamshire College and the East Midlands as a whole.”

Asha Khemka OBE, Principal and Chief Executive of West Nottinghamshire College, said: “This trade mission gives us a fantastic opportunity to establish high-level links in The Punjab – the second wealthiest Indian State with one of the fastest rates of development.

“bksb is well positioned to support the up-skilling of learners and employees in The Punjab and I’m confident the team’s visit will further enhance the growing international reputation of the College and bksb, adding to its activities in Australia, New Zealand and Libya.”
