A play by torchlight at Create Theatre
Following their sell-out show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2012, Worklight Theatre Company are bringing their devised show, How to Start a Riot, to Mansfield’s Create Theatre in April.
Leading on from the Tottenham riots of summer 2011, Worklight Theatre will bring text, torchlight and physical theatre to unpick the presumed cases of civil unrest on Friday 12 April at 7.30pm.
Based on the work of leading crowd and social psychologists, Professor Stephen Reicher and Dr Clifford Stott, Worklight Theatre will explore personal misconceptions of what riots are and how they start.
The company specialises in bringing multiple theatrical techniques and styles to the stage, including puppetry, lighting and movement, to their performances.
Theatre Co-ordinator Adam Pownall said: “I’m very excited about bringing Worklight Theatre to Create. They have such an innovative approach to crafting new theatre and use contemporary techniques to tell stories.
“It will definitely be like no other theatre you have seen in Mansfield before.”
Tickets for the performance cost £10 and £8 for concessions and can be purchased by calling 01623 413363 or visit www.createtheatre.co.uk. To find out more about Worklight Theatre visit www.worklighttheatre.co.uk
