College is on board with National Apprenticeship Week
West Nottinghamshire College will be celebrating National Apprenticeship Week and helping would-be apprentices find out more about a range of career opportunities.
National Apprenticeship Week which runs from 11-15 March is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service and is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals and businesses.
On Wednesday (13 March) the college will be hosting an apprenticeship open evening at its Derby Road campus from 5.30-7.30pm when people can find out more about the apprenticeships available through the college.
Visitors to the open evening can meet with members of the careers team as well as speak to tutors about the different industries that apprenticeships cover. People will be given advice on how to complete an application form for an apprenticeship as well as apply for current apprenticeship vacancies.
On Saturday (16 March) the college will be taking part in an apprenticeship roadshow being held at Mansfield’s Library on West Gate. Visitors can find out more about apprenticeship study options and apply for current vacancies.
The event, which runs from 10am-3pm, will feature representatives from Mansfield District Council, Ashfield District Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council, Mansfield Learning Partnership, JobCentre Plus and Vision Apprentices – the apprentice business arm of West Nottinghamshire College.
Sandra Cowley, head of employer engagement at West Nottinghamshire College and managing director of Vision Apprentices, said: “We have a wide range of apprenticeships which combine real jobs and study for young people to embark on. This will equip them with nationally-recognised qualifications which can lead to fantastic career progression opportunities.
“More businesses are recognising the benefits an apprentice can bring to their business and realise it’s a great way of investing in their workforce. Apprenticeship Week will help spread this message even further.”
