Selling it with love at college market
Budding young business people have been helping shoppers get that loving feeling at a Valentine’s market held at West Nottinghamshire College.
The market, held at the college’s Derby Road campus yesterday (11 February), saw students from a number of curriculum areas use their business acumen, while selling Valentines’ Day-themed goodies to customers.
The market gave students who are starting up small businesses through the college’s enterprise programme the opportunity to sell their products to staff, students and the public.
Handmade items such as ornamental hearts and custom designed key rings were on sale with profits being used to fund the students’ future enterprise projects.
One of the market stalls featured Plane Crazy, which is the brainchild of joinery students who are selling their hand-turned crafts such as wooden pencil cases and furniture.
The group, which is made up of Suzette Wilson, Liam Burrows, Martin Mitchel, Liam Thorpe, Alex Jacks, Jamie Warren and Chris Dowlman, are part of the National Young Enterprise – Company Programme and will be taking their products to a competition trade fair at Mansfield’s Four Seasons Shopping Centre on Saturday 2 March.
