Three cheers for students’ achievements
Families and friends joined students for a celebration of achievement ceremony at West Nottinghamshire College last week (10 December).
Almost 60 students celebrated their achievements on a range of foundation studies programmes. Among those being congratulated were students from the college’s BAY6 coffee bar and café – which provides a practical training and working environment for students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
Students were presented with certificates for completing their studies as well as scooping trophies for outstanding achievements.
The trophy for personal progress went to David Guest, 19, from Hucknall and the trophy for outstanding learner of the year went to Jamie Herberts, 17, from Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
Curriculum manager for care and education studies, Yvonne Jackson, said: “It was wonderful to see so many of our students’ families joining us for the annual celebration of achievement.
“Each and every student was praised for the efforts they’ve put into their studies this year. For many of our learners it’s not just about gaining qualifications, it’s about gaining new confidence and social skills that they can then apply to their everyday lives.
“We’re very proud of all of our students and it’s particularly pleasing to know that so many of them will be continuing their further education studies at the college after their initial programmes have finished.”
