Sell-out show comes to Mansfield
Theatre lovers have the chance to see locally-produced professional theatre next week at West Nottinghamshire College.
Bones, which has been produced by Derby-based Fifth Word Theatre and written by local writer Jane Upton, will be shown at the college’s Create Theatre on Derby Road on Wednesday (10 October) at 7.30pm.
Nottingham-born actor Joe Doherty plays Mark, a troubled young man who has the responsibility of caring for his mum and her baby. He knows he has to do something drastic and could make a chilling choice that changes his life forever.
Last year, Joe, from Carlton, was nominated for Best Solo Performance at the Edinburgh Festival.
The play, which sold out recently at the Nottingham Playhouse, is set to go nationwide as it embarks on a five-week, 19-venue tour, ending in London.
Co-director Angharad Jones said: “It feels like a Midlands show – one that’s faithful to a time and a place. It just felt very honest and very truthful. We like to show plays that do reflect society and that are prescient as well.
“It’s written beautifully, it’s poetic. And as a company, I think we are attracted to the darker side of things.”
