Getting work-ready at Vision West Notts
Students on university-level business and management courses at Vision West Notts will discover what employers are seeking in new recruits at an event next week.
Representatives from private and public sector organisations including Mansfield-based Linney Design, Nottinghamshire Police, National Grid and contract catering provider Compass Group UK will be among the guests at the 'Employer Fourm' at the Derby Road campus on Monday (6 February).
National Grid’s graduate development manager Craig Smith will open the event with a talk on graduate employability.
It will be followed by a question and answer session between students and employers to help learners discover what skills and attributes businesses want from job applicants.
The event follows on from the college's ‘Activity Week’ earlier this month, which saw students take part in a range of activities focusing on employability.
Higher education business tutor Stephanie Wilkinson said: “Not only do we strive to give our students the best qualifications, we also ensure they receive expert advice on what makes a graduate employable. In today's competitive job market it’s essential to have the right attitude towards work as well as the right skills.
“The Employer Forum will give our students a great opportunity to meet with some high-profile business leaders.”
