Tastes from around the world
Students at Vision West Notts will get a taste of things to come next week, with the launch of a new ethnic menu.
Foods from around the world are being added to the menu at the college’s Construction and Logistics Skills Academy in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, launching with ‘Ethnic Day’ on Monday (23 January).
Staff from the health and wellbeing team will offer taster dishes of vegetable Balti curry and an Italian chicken and tomato dish over the lunchtime break to introduce learners to cuisine from different nationalities.
Students will also learn about healthy eating and calorie content while discovering more about the origins of dishes from other countries.
The diner, which serves meals to students on a range of construction courses, will continue to serve up a different ethnic dish every day, starting Monday.
Student health and welfare adviser Kirsty Betts said: “We’re looking forward to introducing the students to foods they may never have tasted before and bringing diversity to their lunchtime menus.
“We’ll also be encouraging students to eat more healthily and advising them about the nutritional value of food.”
