Students come good with badminton
West Nottinghamshire College students came second in an inter-college badminton championship between three other Notts colleges last week.
Four students from West Notts visited Bilborough College, Nottingham, on Thursday (31 March) where they battled with students from Bilborough College, Castle College and New College Nottingham – coming a close second in the competition.
Players Chris Worthy, Joe Machin, Emily Hallam and Mary Haslam came through the group stages and the semi-final to be narrowly beaten by Bilborough 2–1 in the final match.
West Nottinghamshire College’s sports development co-ordinator Craig Homer said: “Our players performed incredibly well. The match was pretty much decided by the males’ singles game which we marginally lost 23-21.
“Our students really took up the challenge and put so much energy into the event and came a proud second in the competition.”
