Jobs fair and advice day in Ashfield
A jobs fair and advice day takes place at Kirkby-in-Ashfield’s Festival Hall in February – aimed at assisting local people to access local vacancies, training opportunities, or support and advice.
The event, on Thursday 17 February, is being organised by Ashfield District Council in partnership with Mansfield District Council, West Nottinghamshire College and Jobcentre Plus. Running from 10am to 3pm, it will see a range of employers attending from various sectors.
Job advice stands will be staffed by Jobcentre Plus representatives who know the local job scene and practical help and support will be available from both district councils’ advisors for people needing advice about money matters and housing.
Throughout the day people will be able to take advantage of job preparation workshops includiing CV-writing techniques and interview skills, and find out more about setting up their own business.
West Nottinghamshire College will be giving advice on the range of courses available at its Mansfield and Ashfield campuses as well as informing people about the range of apprenticeships on offer through its Vision Apprentices recruitment service.
Head of Community and Economic Promotion at Ashfield District Council, Frank Horsley, said: “We’re looking forward to delivering an event that will help local people take the right steps with the right advice all under one roof; whether they are looking to get back into work, training, volunteering or self-employment.”
