College to launch job shop for students and local community
A service designed to help college students find employment is being launched at West Nottinghamshire College’s Derby Road campus.
The ‘Job Shop’ will be officially launched by Mansfield Mayor Tony Egginton next Wednesday (29 September) and will provide students with the facility to access up-to-date job vacancies as well as providing advice about careers and job searching.
Students will be able to visit the Job Shop to search for current job vacancies, talk to advisers and book careers appointments. They will have free access to trade magazines, computers, vacancy bulletins and local newspapers to help them in their job searches.
The Job Shop can also be accessed online, which means employers will have the opportunity to register their details and post their current vacancies online at www.wnc.ac.uk/Job-Shop/
Student adviser for employability at West Notts, Edina Baines, said: “The launch will be a great opportunity to advertise what we can do for local businesses in our community. In the last year we’ve worked hard to establish the Job Shop within the college and we’ve also worked closely with our web team to create an online resource for both students and employers to access.
“We’d like to encourage local employers to register online so they can post vacancies as and when needed. Those vacancies can then be accessed by people seeking employment. “
Members of the public can also contact the college careers team to get free, impartial information, advice and guidance about all aspects of employment and education at careers@wnc.ac.uk or on 01623 413325.
