Students up for apprenticeship awards
Two students at West Nottinghamshire College have secured places in the finals of a regional apprenticeship awards ceremony.
Shane Bourn and David Townsend have been entered into the East Midlands Apprenticeship Awards finals in the Entry to Employment Learner of the Year category.
Shane, 17, from Mansfield Woodhouse, is studying on the Level One Diploma in Bricklaying at the college’s Construction and Logistics Skills Academy in Kirkby-in-Ashfield. Meanwhile, David, 20, of Sutton-in-Ashfield, is studying on the Level Two Diploma in Painting and Decorating at the construction academy while also working as an apprentice for Atterby’s Decorators of Skegby.
Associate director of learning for construction and building services, Julian Walden, said: “I’m very proud that two of our learners have been put forward for this prestigious award. Their tutors fully-recognise their efforts on their courses and we wish them every success at the ceremony.”
Winners will be announced at the regional awards ceremony hosted by television presenter Michaela Strachan at the Derby Roundhouse on Thursday 10 June. The awards are run by the National Apprenticeship Service in conjunction with City & Guilds.
