Healthcare company to extend college links across the UK
Workers at worldwide healthcare group – Alliance Healthcare – will be collecting certificates of achievements from West Nottinghamshire College staff in recognition of passing their NVQ Level 2 in business administration and customer service.
The programme was delivered on-site in South Normanton as a flexible package to meet the needs of the group of sixteen, without disrupting day-to-day working patterns.
Alliance Healthcare is part of the Alliance Boots group which is the leading distributor and wholesaler of pharmaceutical, medical and health and beauty products in the UK.
Staff at the South Normanton premises are being led through staff development in many areas such as business admin, customer service, and also a number of team leaders are currently studying towards the NVQ Level 2 qualification in team leading.
West Nottinghamshire College has worked with Alliance Healthcare since 2007, providing tailor-made study options to its staff. The study link is set to grow as it is hoped that other Alliance Healthcare plants in the UK will soon be undertaking courses via West Nottinghamshire College.
Service Centre Manager at South Normanton, Michael Fowler, said: “We are hoping to extend our links with the college and enable more of our staff to access courses which are vital to their personal and professional development.
“We are exploring training for staff at other sites within the UK to pick up qualifications in warehousing and distribution as well as providing further literacy, numeracy and IT skills for all staff.”
“It will be a proud moment to see our latest group collect their certificates next week as I know they’ve worked incredibly hard to achieve their qualifications.”
College tutor Siobhan Johnson, who works for the business, information and community education school of learning, said: “The students were totally focused and finished well before the predicted end date. Even when they were working to tight deadlines they managed to complete their action points. The employers at Alliance Healthcare were supportive and involved in the progress of the programme.”
